Berguedà

The Comarca Berguedá lies in the province of Barcelona, ​​the Autonomous Community of Catalonia (Spain). The community association has an area of 1,185 km ² and 38,087 inhabitants (2009 ).

Location

The community association is located in the northeastern part of Catalonia, it is bordered on the north by the comarca of Cerdanya, in the east on Ripollès and Osona, to the south and to the west by Solsonès Bages and Alt Urgell. Together with the Comarcas Anoia, Bages, Osona and Solsonès forms the region 's territory Comarques Centrals. The city of Barcelona is about 80 km south- southeast.

The northern part of the county, the Old Berguedà ( German: Upper Berguedà ), located in the mountains of the Pyrenees. The Serra del Cadi ( 2430 m ) forms a natural border with the high valley of the Cerdanya. In the Sierra del Cadi also founded in 1983 the Parc Natural del Cadi -Moixeró is a charismatic Pyrenees mountains: The twin peaks of the Pedraforca ( 2497 m). Of the 80 Romanesque churches that can be found in the comarca are Sant Quirze de Pedret (4 miles from Berga ), Sant Vicenç in Obiols, Santa Maria ( in Avià ) and Sant Miquel de Lillet (2 km from La Pobla de Lillet ) are of particular interest.

Economy

Until recent years, the mining industry is now in crisis played an important role. Traditional livestock farming, agriculture and forestry is almost only operated as a sideline. Of increasing importance is tourism for hikers, climbers and skiers. Only 14 miles from Berga away is the Rasos de Peguera ski resort (2000 m).
