BeÅŸir Atalay

Besir Atalay ( born April 1, 1947 county Keskin, Kırıkkale Province) is a Turkish sociologist, university professor, politician and former Minister of the Interior.

Atalay began his studies at the Faculty of Law of the University of Ankara. His master's and doctoral thesis wrote Atalay at the Faculty of Management at the Ataturk University in Erzurum.

Atalay was a professor at Ataturk University, at Marmara University and a visiting professor at the University of Michigan operates. 1983 Atalay was Docent of Sociology. Atalay was the founding rector of the Kırıkkale University. He worked as a coordinator of the Centre for Social Studies, Ankara and as head of the Office of State Planning and as a member of the National Commission for UNESCO.

Atalay was a member of the Adalet ve Kalkınma Partisi ( AKP) for the province of Ankara in 22 legislative session of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. In addition, he was Minister of State in the 58th (Cabinet Gul ) and 59 ( I. Erdoğan Cabinet ) Government of the Republic of Turkey. Atalay, 2007 was a member of the Second Erdoğan Cabinet of the AKP government under Erdogan, who served as Interior Minister in until March 8, 2011 since 29 August. In the Cabinet Erdoğan III he is since 2011 one of several deputies of the Prime Minister.

Atalay is married and father of three children. He speaks English.
