Blankenheim, Saxony-Anhalt

Geographical Location

Blankenheim located in the Horn Burger saddle in the southeastern Harz foreland along Route 151 between Emseloh and Eisleben. Through the village is a railway track with the line Magdeburg to Erfurt on a section of the Berlin- Blankenheim Railway and the line Göttingen- Halle ( Saale) in the range of ( Halle- Kassel railway), which takes you through a 875 m long tunnel. History

The first mention of Blankenheim was 1181st The further development of the town is closely connected with the history of the Premonstratensian monastery ( 1147-1543 ) Rode in today's district Klosterrode.

Blankenheim belonged until 1815 to the Official Sangerhausen of the Kingdom of Saxony, and then got to the administrative district of the Prussian province of Saxony Merseburg. From 1952 to 1990 Blankenheim belonged to the East German district hall.
