Bob Martin (singer)

Bob Martin, actually Leo Heppe ( born June 7, 1922 in Krasnoyarsk / Siberia; † 13 January 1998 in Vienna ) was an Austrian singer and musician.

Career

From 1951 until his retirement in 1981, Bob Martin worked as a singer in the choir of the Vienna State Opera, was active in these years, but also in other genres: Among other things, he supported the jazz combos, the Monte Carlos and The blue guys. In 1957, he starred opposite Grethe Weiser in the remake of the classic film once be a great lady in 1934. In addition, he worked as a singer to record notes from some of operas and operettas with which today are partly still in new editions available. Bob Martin was buried on Ottakringerstraße cemetery.

Participation in the Euro Vision Song Contest

1957 Bob Martin was selected internally by the ORF to be the first representative of Austria at the Euro Vision Song Contest in Frankfurt am Main.
