Borkou Region
Borkou is a region of Chad, corresponding to the former prefecture of the same name. Its capital is Faya. The region has about 97,000 inhabitants (2009 ). The region was created on 19 February 2008 as a spin- off of the former region Borkou - Ennedi Tibesti.
Geography
Borkou is located in the north of the country. The climate is hot and dry ( desert climate ). Much of the region lies in the Sahara, the Tibesti Mountains in the northwest. The southern part of the Sahel.
Another town next Faya is Kirdimi.
