Bornum is a district of the city of Zerbst / Anhalt in the district of Anhalt- Bitterfeld, in Saxony -Anhalt ( Germany ).

Geography

The village Bornum on the southwestern edge of the Flaming located on the southern Nuthe- arm the valley widens toward Zerbst. The surrounding area is characterized by rolling hills. The Möllelberg near the hamlet Kleinleitzkau reaches 109 m above sea level. NHN. Bornum is located just ten kilometers from Zerbst and about twelve miles from Dessau.

History

The Trübener village church appeared in 1213 the first time in a document. Until December 31, 2009 Bornum was an independent municipality with the associated hamlets Garitz, Kleinleitzkau and troubled waters. On 1 January 2010, the annexation was to Zerbst.

The village Garitz was first documented in 1259. A John de Gardiz ( from the lineage of Rederns ) is called as a witness in a deed in which it is expressed that Richard von Zerbst has freed the city from the customs tax. In 1350 it was known as Gartz, a name of Slavic origin. As of 1572 the place name Garitz and the existence of a manor with sheep farm, brewery and distillery are securitized. The Lords of Rederns sold this property to a branch of the family of Davier, who reigned until 1893 Garitz. Then the family Lahne from Niegripp acquired the manor that it managed for 52 years. After the expropriation and in the course of the land reform was carried out in 1945 a distribution of the property to the former farm workers and expellees from Silesia. From the estate is now in the townscape, almost nothing recognizable.

The House of Culture (now the restaurant and hotel at the vineyard ) was established in 1976, built by the LPG in the typical DDR style, who saw the feature in the foreground.
