Böxlund

Böxlund (Danish: Bøgslund ) is a municipality in the district of Schleswig -Flensburg, in Schleswig- Holstein. With a little over one hundred inhabitants Böxlund is the municipality with the fewest inhabitants in the county.

History

Archaeological finds evidence of a settlement of the township in the Neolithic period.

Böxlund was first mentioned in 1584. The place name is derived from the Danish Bögslunj ( Buchhain ).

On Stolzenberg a ( presumably) interglacial paleosol was found, which was formed before the Eemian, making over 150,000 years old. The locality is a natural monument. The fossil podzol is regarded as evidence of a warm phase during the Saale ice age.

Policy

Since the local elections of 2008, the voters Community WFTU holds all seven seats in the municipal council. In the election on May 26, 2013, this result was confirmed.

The open Beechnut indicates the name of the town. The Harrow in conjunction with the color green and gold stands for the agricultural character and tradition of the community. The ice crystal has the to the municipality belonging Stolzenberg, which includes the natural monument paleosols at Stolzenberg. Due to fortunate circumstances, a land surface is in a former gravel pit survived from a period of more than 50,000 years ago, in their entirety, these geoscientific rarity is unique in northern Germany.

Economy

The community is dominated by agriculture, with grazing and cereal crops predominate. But live in Böxlund many commuters who work in Flensburg or Harrislee.
