Brimingen

Brimingen is a municipality in the district of Bitburg -Prüm, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Bitburg -Land.

Geography

Brimingen located in the western Eifel on a ridge between Enz and Prüm. The border with Luxembourg is about 10 km west of the town. TO Brimingen includes a part of the otherwise associated with Utscheid Weiler Neuhaus.

History

In an early settlement of the district indicate several tumuli and Roman stray finds. The first documentary mention as " Bremme " dates from 1473rd The plague fell in 1636 almost all the inhabitants of the village to the victim, so that the nine houses of 1656 Brimingen already all had expired.

By the end of the 18th century belonged to the rule Brimingen New Castle in the Duchy of Luxembourg, the place was assigned to the court and the dairy Oberweis.

In 1794, French revolutionary troops had the Austrian Netherlands, which included the Duchy of Luxembourg, occupied and annexed in October 1795. From 1795 to 1814 the place to Canton New Castle belonged to the department of forests.

In 1815, the former Luxembourg territory east of the Sauer and the Our was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia at the Congress of Vienna. Thus, the community came Brimingen 1816 Bitburg in the Trier region in the province of the Grand Duchy of the Lower Rhine, which merged in 1822 in the Rhine Province. Brimingen was initially managed by the mayor Outscheid and belonged from 1856 to the mayoralty Baustert (1927 to "Official Baustert " renamed). Since 1970, the local church is administered by the municipality Bitburg -Land.

Parish council

The local council in Brimingen consists of six council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Attractions

The village is home to some very old farmhouses that have been renovated in recent years. About the municipality several ways crosses are also distributed.

Economy and infrastructure

Brimingen is an agricultural municipality today. With 272 acres, a large part of its territory is used for agriculture. Most workers are employed in the county town of Bitburg. Immediately west of the village runs the federal highway 50, which among other things, to Bitburg.

In June 2002, the wind farm Brimingen with two wind turbines was taken (each 100 m total height) in operation.
