Buchberg, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern

Book is a municipality in the southeast of the district Ludwigslust - Parchim in Mecklenburg -Vorpommern ( Germany ). It is administered by the Office Plau am See, located in the eponymous city. The municipality was created from the merger of the municipalities Gnevsdorf and Retzow on 13 June 2004. It was named after the highest point, the book mountain, named.

Geography and transport

The community is located west of the state road 103 and is available from the Federal Highway 24 (approx. 20 km), Meyenburg, accessible. It is located about 17 kilometers southeast of Lübz and approximately six kilometers south of Plau am See. To the northeast of the municipality is the Plau. The terminal moraines reach the south with the book mountain south of Gnevsdorf the height of 118.2 m above sea level. HN. West of the town Wagelin is the wetlands and nature reserve Wangeliner lake. In the south at Retzow the forest area is Retzower firs. The municipality is crossed by the upper reaches of the Gehlsbachs.

History

The districts Gnevsdorf and Retzow were first documented in 1448. In the 1950s, a military training area was created by the Soviet Army. This was abandoned in 1992 and the nature reserve Marienfließ arose.
