Witzin

Witzin is a municipality in the northeast of the county Ludwigslust - Parchim in Mecklenburg -Vorpommern ( Germany ). It is administered by the Office Sternberg Lake District with headquarters in the city Sternberg.

Geography and transport

The municipality is located in a wooded hilly landscape east of Sternberg. In the west the municipality borders on the Trenntsee and the United Radener lake, smaller lakes are found along the creek with the Müller Ortmannsee, Kemladesee and Mühlensee. To the south lies the Glammsee. To the east is located in the forest area Herrenholz the highest elevation with 76.8 m above sea level. NHN. The next largest cities are Sternberg (8 km ) and Güstrow (20 km).

Through the town Witzin leads the federal highway 104 from Schwerin to Güstrow.

Quarters are Loiz and Witzin.

History

In 1270 Witzin as Kirchdorf, which belonged to Bützower Archidiakonat was first mentioned. 1309 enfeoffed Prince Henry II of Mecklenburg knight Ludolf von Ganzow with an elevation of 20 Mark Bede from the village for a borrowed capital of him. In the 14th century it belonged by nepotism, most of the location of the family of Ganzow. Also of Pressentin had there two yards and eight hooves. In the year 1408 went by purchasing the entire property of the Pressentins to the monastery Tempzin, two years later the Ganzowsche possession. In the course of secularization, the region was enfeoffed to the Lords of Peder village. 1625 was the Domanialgut still in possession of the Duke of Brunswick pledge Council and Court Marshal Hans Peter Dorff. Then the Domanial - tenant farm and the farming village Witzin the Grand Duchy of Mecklenburg and the patent office Warin - Neukloster -Sternberg Tempzin belonged. After 1945 the town belonged only to the state of Mecklenburg and then from 1952 to 1990 for the district of Schwerin.

The name refers to the Slavic word VITU for profit. The name refers to the Slavic locator of the place and meaning place of Vitek.

Was first documented in the district Loiz on March 31, 1328, when the Mecklenburg Prince Henry II the town church Sternberg creates a Vikarie. This was fitted with income from the site.

Coat of arms

Designed by the Schwerin heraldist Karl -Heinz Steinbruch coat of arms was approved on 11 August 2005 by the Home Office and registered under No. 299 in the coat of arms role of the state Mecklenburg -Vorpommern.

Flag

The flag is evenly lengthwise stripes of gold ( yellow) and blue. In the middle of the flag cloth, is on two thirds of the height of the golden ( yellow ) and blue stripe across the municipal coat of arms. The height of the bunting is related to the length as 3:5.
