Burghaslach is between Würzburg and Nuremberg, and is easily accessible from exit 77 of the motorway 3.

Place name

The place name Haslachs castle is derived from the river Haslach which once flowed past the castle Burghaslach. This can also be seen on the coat of arms.

History

Burghaslach is documentary evidence as an independent city from 1136, but is in a document of the monastery of Fulda from the 12th century, a gift of the village around the year 800 occupied. Even the toponymy can a foundation in the Carolingian period suspect.

In 1806 Burghaslach comes to the Kingdom of Bavaria.

Incorporations

On January 1, 1972, the previously independent municipalities Breitenlohe, Duke Forest, Kirchrimbach, low- village and Oberrimbach and a portion of the dissolved municipality Freihaslach were incorporated. On May 1, 1978 Gleißenberg was added from the district of Erlangen- Hochstadt.

Twinning

Castle Haslachs far the only sister city is the town Przywidz in Poland. From 23 - 26th September 2010, a delegation from Burghaslach, consisting of Mayor Hermann Wehr, community architect Frieder Müller- Maatsch and Robert Hofmann, responsible for cultural community tasks, the local municipality, to strengthen the partnership. The partnership is particularly focused on cooperation in the subject of youth.

Structures

The Princely Palace of Castellsche Burghaslach has a history that dates back to the 14th century: The CASTRUM HASE LAUGHING (the castle Rabbit Laughing ) was the Bishop Gottfried III. von Hohenlohe, Bishop of Würzburg from 1314 to 1322, as a fief given to the Counts of Castell. The present castle was rebuilt after many changes of ownership and several alterations in the years 1822 to 1826 in the classical style.

Other attractions include the Castle Prince forest and the swimming pool, which was modernized in 2008 as part of a major renovation project.

Hosler Kerwa
