Bütschwil
Bütschwil was until December 31, 2012, a municipality in the region of Toggenburg in the canton of St. Gallen. It is located in the constituency Toggenburg to the river Thur. To Bütschwil include the districts Unterdietfurt, Langensteig, Kengelbach and Grämigen. Bütschwil 779 is first written records as Bucinesvilare. On January 1, 2013, it merged with Ganterschwil the new community Bütschwil - Ganterschwil.
Geography
The neighboring municipalities were Ganterschwil, Lutisburg, Mosnang, Krinau, Wattwil, light climbing and Oberhelfenschwil.
History
Bütschwil 779 was first mentioned as Bucinesvilare. There was then a farm, which was probably built by the Alemanni by the Romans, the area was not settled around Bütschwil. The farm owner donated his area 855 by a deed of gift to the monastery of St. Gall, which pledged the Kelnhof 1280 to the Counts of Berg. 1340 came the basic rule of the Counts of Toggenburg. 1475 they bought back the Abbey of St. Gall, who had in 1468 acquired the territorial rule over the entire Toggenburg. On November 27, 2011, a vote on a municipal merger from 1 January 2013 took place in Bütschwil and Ganterschwil. Already on 26 September 2010, the voters of the political communities Bütschwil and Ganterschwil had agreed in a landmark vote the introduction of the association process. The vote was adopted in Bütschwil with a yes - share of 82 %, in Ganterschwil the share of votes amounted to 54%. The new community name is read - Bütschwil Ganterschwil.
Coat of arms
The coat of arms shows two white, intricate goosenecks on a red background. It comes from the noble von Holzhausen, who were the ministeriales of the Counts of Toggenburg. They were administrators of the Kellhofes in Bütschwil during more than a century. As part of the merger with community Ganterschwil however, a new coat of arms was chosen. It shows a red bridge on a white ground, built on a green background. The original coat of arms is retained.

Traffic
The main road 16 Wil - Wattwil wild house runs through Bütschwil, 2014 started the construction of a bypass road which is connected to the highway light climbing Wattwil. Bütschwil is located on the railway line Wil - Wattwil with the stations Bütschwil and Unterdietfurt.
By the former municipality of the 60 -kilometer Thurweg, a hiking trail that leads along the Thur from Wil to wild house runs.

In Bütschwil is a training center of the civil defense.
