CA Oradea

Clubul atletic Oradea was a Romanian football club based in Oradea. He is the only Romanian club, the champion of two countries was: Hungarian Champion in 1944 (as Nagyvaradi Atlétikai Club ) and Romanian champion in 1949 ( as ICO Oradea ). In 1955 the club won (as Progresul Oradea ) the Romanian Cup. The club was disbanded in 1963.

History

CAO Oradea was established in 1910 as a Nagyváradi AC ( Nagyvarad is the Hungarian name of the city of Oradea ). At that time, Oradea was still on Hungarian territory. After the First World War, the city came to Romania and the club called henceforth the CAO Oradea.

The club was in 1932 one of the founding members of the new Romanian professional league, the Divizia A and won in the 1934/35 season, the Romanian runner. 1938 was relegated to the B Divizia CAO. After the Second Vienna Award in 1940 Oradea came again to Hungary. As Nagyváradi AC ( Nagyvarad is the Hungarian name of the city of Oradea ) played the club in the first Hungarian League, the Nemzeti National Championship. In the 1943/44 season NAC could even win the championship.

After the Second World War, the club was - again romanian - refounded as Libertatea Oradea and immediately played back in Divizia A. After renaming in ICO Oradea in 1948 was able to win the Romanian championship and so when the club in the season 1948/49, only club in Romania are masters of two different states.

1951 joined the club again the name was called the Progresul Oradea. In the 1954 season Progresul dismounted in the Divizia B. Only a year later managed to rise again, and in the following season winning the Romanian Cup. This was the last major success of the club's history. In the season 1957/58 Progresul rose again from the Divizia B. In the same year, the club changed its name and is now played as CS Oradea, 1961 Oradea as Crişana.

In the season 1962/63 Crişana attended one last time at the Divizia A. After relegation, the club was disbanded. At the same time local rivals Crisul Oradea reached the summit in the Divizia A.
