Canton of Excideuil

The Canton Excideuil is a further breakdown of the arrondissement of Périgueux in the Dordogne in the Aquitaine region of France.

History

The canton was founded on March 4, 1790 with the establishment of the departments as part of the then " district Excideuil ". With the establishment of the arrondissements on 17 February 1800 the canton was again cut as part of the then arrondissement of Périgueux.

Geography

The canton is bounded on the northwest and north to the cantons Thiviers and Lanouaille in the Arrondissement Nontron, in the east to the Canton Juillac in the arrondissement of Brive- la -Gaillarde in the département of Corrèze (Limousin ), to the south by the Canton of Haute Fort and to the west by the Canton Savignac -les- Églises.
