Carl Pursell

Carl Duane Pursell ( born December 19, 1932 in Imlay City, Lapeer County, Michigan, † June 11, 2009 in Plymouth, Michigan ) was an American politician.

Pursell graduated in 1951 from high school. He then studied at Eastern Michigan University where he received his Bachelor in 1957. From 1957 to 1959 he served in the United States Army. Pursell now again visited Eastern Michigan University, where he received his master's degree in 1962. In 1970 he was elected as a Republican to the Senate from Michigan and was there from 1971 to 1977 Senator. While Pursells second legislative term, he was elected in congressional elections in 1976 in the House of Representatives of the United States and represented there, from 3 January 1977 to January 3, 1993 the state of Michigan. In the elections to the 103 congress 1992, he gave up another candidacy. Prior to his political career Pursell worked as a teacher and businessman. He now spent his life in Plymouth, Michigan, where he died in June 2009 at the age of 76 years. Pursell was married and had three children, two sons and a daughter.
