Carol Shea-Porter

Carol Shea -Porter ( born December 2, 1952 in New York City ) is an American politician. From 2007 to 2011, she represented the state of New Hampshire for the first time in the U.S. House of Representatives. In the election in November 2012, she could regain her seat against Republican incumbent Frank Guinta, so their second term in Congress began on January 3, 2013.

Career

Carol Shea, as her maiden name, visited by 1971 the Oyster River High School in Durham (New Hampshire). She then studied until 1979 at the University of New Hampshire. Subsequently, she was a social worker and initiated appropriate facilities in New Orleans and Maryland. She also helped in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.

Politically, Shea -Porter joined the Democratic Party. It was considered a liberal and supported demands for a timetable for troop withdrawal from Iraq. They also campaigned for a minimum wage and supported the health care reform by President Barack Obama. After their victory in the congressional elections of 2006, in the first electoral district of New Hampshire, she moved into the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington. There it began on 3 January 2007 the successor of Jeb Bradley of the Republican Party, whom she had beaten in the election. After a re-election in 2008, she retired 3 January 2011 out of the Congress after they had lost to Frank Guinta. Shea -Porter was a member of the Armed Services Committee, the Committee on Education and Labour and the Committee, which deals with the natural resources during this time. In each of these committees they had each member of two subcommittees.

Carol Shea -Porter is married to Gene Porter. The couple lives in Rochester.
