Castelplanio

Castelplanio ( in the local dialect just Castello) is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 3532 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Ancona in the Marche. The municipality is situated approximately 37 km west-southwest of Ancona on esino.

History

The village lies on the ancient Via Clementina, the. Pope Clement XII had been built. The place is first mentioned as Castel Plani 1283. The city rights ( Citta ), the municipality since 2007.

Traffic

In the south and southeast, the Strada Statale 76 della Val d' esino from Ancona to Perugia forms the municipal boundary. The train station of Castelplanio is on the railway line from Rome to Ancona. The station also serves the neighboring town of Cupra Montana.
