Character animation

Character animation refers to the quality design of a figure in the animated film, with a special focus on the fitting realistic trains in the figurative world through an elaborate display of emotion, thought and movement, as an addition to voice acting.

Generally

The contrast with normal animation of a character is fundamentally subjective, but usually subject to certain characteristics. Character animation is usually referred to by a limited number, in the German language most easily chief draftsman, animators performed partially participate as directors and storyboard and background designs. The term Character Animator also receive almost only signatories who have worked long time for a studio.

When the term character animation in cartoon vocabulary found its way, is not known as the earliest signatories of this kind, however, apply Winsor McCay for his work on Gertie the Dinosaur (1914 ) and Otto Messmer with Felix the Cat in the 1920s. Both worked primarily of animated short films, since the animated feature film length was indeed already known, but widespread only in the 1930s on and later - became popular - especially through the films of Walt Disney.

With four times Oscar winner Nick Park and the Russian animator Yuri Norstein Independant character animation is not limited only to Hollywood studios.

The only " German " Character Animator were, or are the two Disney artist Wolfgang Reitherman (1909-1985), who was born in Munich, but his parents emigrated to the USA in infancy and Andreas Deja ( born 1957 ), which has German nationality, but originally comes from Poland. The only Swiss Character Animator was Albert Hurter ( 1883-1942 ).
