Chlebnice

Chlebnice is a municipality in the northern central Slovakia with 1596 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011), the kraj Okres in Dolny Kubin within the Žilinský situated, in the traditional landscape Orava.

Geography

The municipality is located below the highlands Skorušinské Hills on Bach Chlebnický creek, which belongs to the catchment area of ​​the Orava. The center is located at an altitude of 594 m nm and is 21 km from Dolny Kubin away.

History

The town was founded by Wallachian right about in the middle of the 16th century and belonged to the manor of Orava Castle. The first inhabitants came from the neighboring village Dlhá nad Oravou. In particular, the village is mentioned in 1564 as Chlewanica first written. 1629 they built a wooden church, which was replaced by a brick church 1763-67. 1778 were counted 526 inhabitants and 1828 153 houses and 1,035 inhabitants.

Population

According to the 2011 census lived in Chlebnice 1,587 inhabitants, of whom 1,573 Slovaks and Czechs three; two residents were of a different ethnicity. Nine residents did not know. 1,562 inhabitants belonged to the Roman Catholic church, five residents known to the Evangelical Church AB and two residents of the Czechoslovak- Hussite Church. 64 residents were non-denominational and 29 inhabitants, the denomination is not determined.
