Christian Godard

Christian Godard ( born March 24, 1932 in Paris ) is a French comic artist and author.

Artistic Career

His career began in 1954 with Godard series Les Adventures de Biscotto le Marmiton, which he published under the pseudonym Eme. He then worked for various publishers. It developed also the series L' Agence Flick contre Fantomuch and Tim et Anthime. Former series, which deals with the struggle against the criminal Fantomuch, 1956 reprinted in the small-format comic magazine Biribu in twelve episodes. 1961 to 1962 it was reprinted in the magazine Lancelot. Tim et Anthime published from 1957 to 1958 in the booklet Ima. There are eight stories here. Two of them were reprinted in 1966 in Tintin. Godard is also the creator of the figures Benjamin et Benjamine ( 1955). This series was later drawn by Albert Uderzo.

In the first issue of Pilote Godard was represented by Jacquot le Mousse. The text came from René Goscinny, with whom he subsequently the series Tromblon et Bottaclou produced. According to their own scenarios Godard drew for Pilote then a few short stories of secret agent E-1000 and the adventures of Norbert et Kari. In the latter series Norbert, an irritated from the big city Frenchman flees to Polynesia, where he hoped for peace and solitude. The series is famous especially for its social criticism and its numerous puns.

Since 1966 he also produced for Tintin magazine, where he published Martin Milan, a series about the pilot of an airplane taxis and other series. During the time when Tintin, he gained a reputation as a subtly humorous scriptwriter. He wrote in 1969 for the magazine Pif gadget, the series La Jungle en Folie, which was drawn by Mic Delinx and in 1975 for various magazines drawn from the Julio Ribera Le Vagabond series of Limbes, the second volume of L' Empire des Soleils Noirs 1976 when first International Comic Festival of Angoulême was awarded " Best Album ". With Ribera, he created several other series and in 1988 set up the publishing house Vaisseau d' Argent, which existed until 1991. He also developed for Achdé, Derib, Éric Juszezak and other signatories scenarios.
