Angoulême International Comics Festival Prize for Best Album

In the category of Best Album the best comics are excellent in album format with the Prix du meilleur album at the Festival International de la Bande Dessinée d' Angoulême since 1976 year.

Originally called the price Alfred (Alfred du meilleur album), named after the pet of the characters from Alain Saint- Ogan Zig et Puce comic series. 1989 we renamed it Alph'Art ( Alph'Art du meilleur album) and finally 2004 award for best album.

From 1976 to 1978, from 1986 to 2001 is awarded in Angoulême also a prize for the best foreign album, which only French-language albums have been honored. Since 2002, in addition to French albums in France or Belgium published albums of foreign signatories the opportunity to price in the same category. With two victories of the comic book writer Yann and cartoonist Baru are the most common in this category at the award winners.

A jury will select a number of nominations the winner. 2007, there were over fifty titles nominated in the category, while previously was limited in the years four to seven nominations.
