Chuo University

The Chuo University (中央 大学jap Chūō Daigaku ) is a private university in Tokyo, which is known for its law school.

It was founded in 1885 as the English School of Law (イギリス 法律 学校Igirisu Hōritsu Gakko ) in Kanda - Nishiki. After a name change to the Tokyo College of Law ( Tōkyō Hōgakuin ) in 1889 was 1903, the appreciation of the Tokyo University School of Law ( Tōkyō Hōgakuin Daigaku ) before the Academy finally in 1905, renamed in step with its enlargement to include a business faculty in Chūō University.

Today the Chūō has six faculties: law, economics, commerce, science, engineering, literature and political science. The student population is without students in the Master's courses (大 学院Daigakuin ) 25,137 (as of 2006). The Chūō belongs to the top universities of Waseda and Keio alongside a handful of other universities of the most prestigious private universities in Japan.

The main campus ( Tama Campus ) is located in Hachioji. In addition, there are the locations Kōrakuen ( Bunkyō ) and Ichigaya ( Shinjuku ). To Chūō except the University includes three high schools.
