Clemente Faccani

Clemente Faccani (* October 19, 1920 in Lugo, Ravenna, Italy, † 15 September 2011 in Imola, Province of Bologna, Italy ) was a Roman Catholic priest and diplomat of the Holy See.

Life

Clemente Faccani received on 10 April 1943 the Bishop of Imola, Paolino Giovanni Tribbioli OFM Cap, the priesthood and was incardinated in the clergy of the diocese of Imola. He then worked for several years in the parish of San Giacomo in Lugo. Then he studied canon and civil law at the Pontifical Ecclesiastical Academy in Rome in 1955 and entered into the diplomatic service of the Vatican. He worked at the missions in Guatemala, Costa Rica, China, Belgium, Australia, Papua New Guinea, USA and Kenya. Pope Paul VI. awarded him the title of Apostolic prothonotary.

On 27 June 1983 he was appointed by Pope John Paul II, Titular Archbishop of Serra and appointed Apostolic Pro-Nuncio in Kenya and the Seychelles. He received his episcopal consecration Cardinal Secretary of State Agostino Casaroli on September 3, 1983; Co-consecrators were the Archbishops Curia Achille Silvestrini and Duraisamy Simon Lourdusamy.

He joined on 14 May 1994 as Apostolic Pro-Nuncio back on the Seychelles. On March 9, 1996, Pope John Paul II accepted his resignation age-related. Faccani died on 15 September 2011 at the Municipal Hospital in Imola.
