Copa MX

Copa México was a football tournament in Mexico, which was fought 1907-1997. On 31 May 2012 it was announced that as of the Apertura 2012 Copa México is reintroduced. They will play two cups a year, one in the Apertura and the other in the Clausura.

History

Copa Tower ( 1907/08-1918/19 )

The first Cup tournament in Mexico was held in the 1907/08 season under the name Copa Tower. The first phase of the Mexican Association Cup was named after the British Ambassador Reginald Thomas Tower (1860-1939) named, who had come to Mexico in 1907 and had donated the trophy in the same year. At that time, only teams from the metropolitan area of Mexico City were eligible to participate - and so came up with the exception of two-time winner Pachuca CF all the other winners from the Mexican capital. The most frequent winner with a total of four hits was the Club España, who was allowed to retain the Copa Towers after the hat-trick 1918/19, made ​​forever.

Copa Eliminatoria ( 1919/20-1931/32 )
