Coucy-le-Château-Auffrique

Coucy -le- Château- Auffrique is a commune of 1064 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Aisne in the Picardie region; it belongs to the district of Laon and is the capital of the canton of Coucy -le- Château- Auffrique

Geography

The community is located about 15 kilometers north of Soissons, above the Ailette valley. The Ailette and the Oise -Aisne parallel channel partially form the southern boundary of the parish

History

In the Middle Ages it was the headquarters of the powerful barons de Coucy, Enguerrand III among them. Enguerrand VII de Coucy and.
