Creu de Sant Jordi

The Creu de Sant Jordi Award ( katal.: Premi Creu de Sant Jordi ) is the highest award of the Generalitat de Catalunya for natural or legal persons who have rendered outstanding services to the Catalan language and culture.

The award is named after the Cross of St. George, the patron saint of Catalonia. The award is based on the Decree 457/1981 of 18 December 1981, made ​​annually by the President of the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya.
