The parliamentary elections in the Czech Republic in 1996 to the House of Representatives took place on 31 May and 1 June 1996. It was the first parliamentary elections in the Czech Republic was founded in 1993. In the same year, the Senate was elected.

Choice

The House of Representatives was elected by proportional representation method. There was a minimum threshold of 5 %. The legislature was 4 years.

Election result

The conservative Civic Democratic Party ( ODS) won the election with a slight lead over the Czech Social Democratic Party ( CSSD ), which had been run with 26.44 % of the votes, the second-best result. The Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia ( KSČM ) was 10.33% and was thus represented as the third strongest party. Furthermore attracted the Christian Democratic People's Party ( KDU- CSL ) with 8.08%, the Republican Party (SPR - RSC) with 8.00% and the liberal-conservative Civic Democratic Alliance ( ODA) with 6.36% in parliament.
