Dambenoît -lès -Colombe is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Dambenoît -lès -Colombe is located at an altitude of 319 m above sea level, 10 km west-northwest of Lure and about 21 km northeast of the town of Vesoul (air line). The village is located in the central part of the department, on the western edge of the plain of Lure, at the eastern foot of the height of Mont d' Ahie.

The area of ​​8.69 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the level of Lure. The eastern part of the municipality is occupied by the alluvial plain, which is on average 320 m. Agricultural land use predominates here. The area is drained by the Bauvier to the east.

South and west of Dambenoît the terrain rises to the most wooded heights of Châtillon ( 391 m) and Mont Chavrot (421 m). They form the watershed between the catchment areas of Ognon and Saône. History

Remains of a burial site from the Merovingian period point to an early settlement of the area. Is first mentioned Dambenoît only in 1230, but the parish, which was from the monastery Calmoutier dependent, is much older. In the Middle Ages Dambenoît belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The local government had held the Lords of Faucogney. Attractions

The church of Saint - Bénigne was rebuilt in 1785, the present chancel dates from the 19th century. With 280 inhabitants (1 January 2011 ) Dambenoît -lès -Colombe is one of the small towns in the Haute- Saône.
