Daniel Narcisse ( born December 16, 1979 in Saint- Denis, Réunion ) is a French handball player. He was elected World Handball Player in 2012.

Career

Association

In his youth, Narcisse still played at Joinville and Chauron on Réunion, before he hired in 1998 after his move to the French mainland in Chambery Savoie HB in the 1st French handball league. With the Savoy 2001, he was champion of France and won the League Cup.

In 2004 he was commissioned by the German club VfL Gummersbach under contract, although he was at that time just injured. For this, however Gummersbacher may install a unilateral option to extend the contract in his contract. In the 1st Handball Bundesliga Narcisse became the top star and performer of his club, so Gummersbacher 2006 their option subject. Narcisse had but for personal reasons before returning to Chambery, and there already signed a contract from summer 2007. So it came to court hearings; in two instances, the judges declared the unilateral option inadmissible, Narcisse was declared eligible to play as for Chambery and Gummersbacher demands for a transfer fee of € 300,000 were rejected.

2009 saw Narcisse to Kiel, with whom he was in 2010 Champions League winner and German masters. After a long injury lay-off due to a torn ACL in his left knee, he won in 2011 with keel the DHB Cup, the Super Globe and DHB - Supercup. In 2012 he won the triple keel, ie the championship with 68:0 points, the DHB Cup and the Champions League. A season that went down in the history books of the sport. In August 2012, winning the DHB Supercup followed. In January 2013 he was elected World Handball Player of the Year 2012. After the 2012/13 season Narcisse moved to Paris Saint- Germain HB. National

Daniel Narcisse has been disputed 258 caps for the French national team. 2001 and 2009 he was World Champion with France; 2006, 2010 and 2014 he was European champion. At the 2005 World Championships and the 2008 European Championships he won bronze in each case, in the latter he was voted the best left back player of the tournament. In the 2008 Olympics he won the gold medal. In summer 2012, he participated in the Olympics in London and won with France once again the gold medal.

In 2012, Narcisse Knight was the French Legion of Honour. Narcisse is married and has two children.
