Denmark at the 2008 Summer Olympics

Denmark participated in the Summer Olympics in 2008 in Beijing part. The nation was visibly absent at all Summer Olympic Games of the modern era, with the exception of the 1904 Olympics in St. Louis. Thus it has 24 Olympic appearances and was represented in Beijing for the 25th time. The Danish Sports Federation ( Danmarks Idræts - Forbund, short DIF) was an official target of seven medals known.

The Olympic squad, consisting of 83 athletes in 16 sports, was announced on 21 June 2008 and confirmed on July 8. Flag Bearer at the Olympic opening ceremony was the putter Joachim Olsen.

Performance Fees

Team Danmark gave to the following performance bonuses the medal winners: 100,000 DKK for a gold medal, a silver medal for 70,000 DKK and 35,000 DKK for a bronze medal. Overall, according to the Danish newspaper Politiken 1,230,000 DKK was distributed as a bonus.

Niels Dall qualified with his 14th place finish at the 2007 World Championships in Leipzig, close to Olympia. Louise Klingenberg Laursen was 33 at the World Cup.

Denmark managed to qualify to the European Championship title in 2008 in Norway for the Olympic Games.

Kasper lead Bach managed to qualify to the European Championship title in 2008 in Milan for the Olympic Games. Henriette Engel Hansen won the B-final in Milan and two to René Holten Poulsen and Kim Wraae Knudsen won the European Championships in Milan.
