Kenya at the 2008 Summer Olympics

Kenya took at the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing for the twelfth time in a summer Olympic tournament. The athletes have been named by the National Olympic Committee Kenya. A total of 46 athletes entered in five sports for Kenya, including 18 athletes and 28 athletes.

In the 3,000-meter steeplechase Men Kenya won for the seventh time in a row and the ninth time overall gold medal. Pamela Jelimo was on 18 August, the first Kenyan Olympic champion ever. With five gold, five silver and four bronze medals Kenya was as successful as ever. Only in 1988 did Kenyans also won five gold medals, overall the team had in 1988 but only won nine medals.

Since the Olympic victory of boxer Robert Wangila 1988 Kenya won all the medals in athletics. The swimmer Jason Dunford in fifth in the 100 meters butterfly was in Beijing best non - athlete in the Kenyan team.

On 18 November 2009 Rashid Ramzi was the winner in the 1500 meter race, due to a doping offense stripped of his gold medal. Asbel Kiprop received thus subsequently awarded the gold medal.
