Kenya at the Olympics

Kenya, the NOK, the National Olympic Committee Kenya, was founded in 1955, took part in the first 1956 Summer Olympics. With the exception of the boycotted games of 1976 and 1980, the NOC sent athletes to every following summer games. Philip Boit also took in 1998, 2002 and 2006 respectively as the only Kenyan starter at Winter Games part.

A total of 453 participants were sent, of which 89 are women. A total of Kenyan athletes won 86 medals at the Summer Games. 79 medals were won in athletics, seven in boxing. In Winter Games Kenya has to date been empty.

The first medal won in 1964 Kenya's Wilson Kiprugut over 800 meters of Lords. First Olympic champion was Naftali Temu, who was over 10000 meters victorious on 13 October 1968. The most successful athlete with two gold and silver medals Kipchoge Keino was in 1968 and 1972.

In 2004, with the 14 -year-old swimmer Eva Donde the youngest athlete in part of Kenya. The oldest participant was 45 years in 1996 with the marksman Anuj Desai.
