Portugal at the Olympics
After the establishment of the Comité Olímpico de Portugal, the National Olympic Committee (NOC ) of Portugal in 1909, the country adopted the first time in 1912 at the Olympics in part, to the Summer Games in Stockholm.

Portugal has not received any Olympic Games. Also, a formal application has not yet taken place.
Participation in Summer Games
Since 1912, Portugal has been represented at all Summer Olympic Games. This Portuguese athletes have so far won 23 medals (as of 2010 ).

Participation in Winter Games
Due to its climatic conditions, winter sports in Portugal are not widespread. This is due to the irregular part of the country with relatively few athletes at the Olympic Winter Games. Portuguese first winter athlete had competed in 1952 in Oslo, then in Calgary 1988, Albertville 1992, Lillehammer 1994, Nagano 1998, Turin 2006 and Vancouver in 2010. Previously it may, where no Portuguese medal win.
