Iran at the Olympics

For the first time took part in Iran at the Olympic Games 1900. The second part followed only 48 years later in the Games of London in 1948. Since then the country has sent two exceptions to every Summer Olympic Games athletes. 1980 and 1984 did not take Iran due to the first Gulf War in the games. Since 1956, Iran was also represented at several Winter Olympic Games.

The National Olympic Committee of Iran was established in 1947 and is now called National Olympic Committee of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The Iranian Olympian acquired a total of 48 medals, all in the sports of wrestling, weightlifting and Taekwondo.
