Togo at the Olympics

Togo, the NOK, the Comité National Olympique Togolais, founded in 1963 and was recognized in 1965 by the IOC, took part in 1972 in the Olympic Summer Games. In 1976, Togo joined the call for a boycott of the Games in Montreal and 1980 for the Games in Moscow.

A total of 36 participants were sent, including four women. Benjamin Boukpeti the first and only athlete to have won a medal. In 2008 he won the bronze medal in the canoe slalom, as he paddled in one kayak at No. 3.

Youngest participant was 2012, the swimmer Adzo Kpossi that went at the age of 13 years at the start and at the same time was the youngest competitor at the Games in London. The oldest participant was in 2012 with 32 years of judoka Kouami Sacha Denanyoh.

At Olympic Winter Games Togo took part for the first time in 2014. There, the country starts with an athlete in Alpine skiing and a female athlete in cross-country skiing.
