Dominica at the Olympics

The NOC of Dominica, the Dominica Olympic Committee, was founded in 1987, but only recognized in 1993 by the IOC. Only since 1996, sends the Caribbean country athletes to the Olympic Summer Games.

A total of 14 participants, eight men and six women sent. Previously, there was no medal winners.

The sprinter Luan Gabriel was in London in 2012 at age 16 youngest participant in Dominica. Another sprinter, the then 31 -year-old Hermin Joseph, was the hitherto oldest athlete in the country.

At Olympic Winter Games Dominica participates for the first time in 2014.

Dominica participates in the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi in 2014 with two athletes in the sport of cross-country skiing part.

Because of their charitable activities in Dominica, the two Americans Gary and Angelica di Silvestri received the dominica African citizenship. The two formed specifically the National Ski Association, in order to qualify for the games, which they succeeded ultimately.
