Cameroon at the Olympics

Cameroon, the NOK, the Comité National Olympique et Sportif du Cameroun, was founded in 1963 and recognized in the same year by the IOC since 1964, he took part in the Olympic Summer Games. 2002 was sent to Winter Games for the first and so far only time a delegation.

A total of 208 participants were sent, of which 49 are women. First medal winner in 1968 was the boxer Joseph Bessala who won the silver medal in the welterweight division. The first Olympic victory celebrated in 2000 the Cameroon U-23 national football team that could beat Spain on penalties. The most successful participants is the athlete Françoise Mbango Etone, who won the triple jump in 2004 and 2008 speak for themselves.

With the 12 -year-old swimmer Antoinette Joyce Guedia Mouafo 2008 participated the youngest athlete Cameroon. She was making her the youngest participant in the Beijing Games. The oldest participant was 35 years in 2008 with the athlete Myriam Mani.
