Burundi at the Olympics

Burundi, the NOK, which was the Comité National Olympique du Burundi, founded in 1990 and recognized in 1993 by the IOC since 1996 takes part in the Olympic Summer Games. On winter games so far participated in any athletes from the country.

A total of 20 participants were sent, including seven women. Vénuste Niyongabo 1996 won the gold medal in the 5000 -meter run. It is so far the only medal of the country.

2000 began with the 15 -year-old athlete Diane Nukuri the youngest athlete of Burundi part. The oldest participant was in 2008 with 35 years of marathon runners Joachim Nshimirimana.
