Derazhnia

Deraschnja (Ukrainian and Russian Деражня; Polish Derażnia ) is about 36 kilometers southwest of the Oblasthauptstadt Khmelnytsky on the river Wowk a town in Ukraine.

The town was first mentioned in writing in 1431 and was a small Cossack village. It was first in Poland in the province of Podolia, was occupied 1672-1682 by the Turks and then by John III. Sobieski reconnected to Poland. 1792 was the place to Russia and was administratively in the government of Podolia. From the 18th century, settled little by Jews in the town, the large Jewish community was wiped out during the Second World War. 1987 Deraschnja again received the town charter and is the capital of Rajons Deraschnja.

In the village there is a large sugar factory in the 1870s, today's railway Krasne -Odessa was opened with a station located in the city.
