Djurgårdens IF Hockey

Djurgården Hockey Hockey is the division of the Swedish sports club Djurgårdens Idrottsförening, which was founded in 1922 and was able to win 16 Swedish Championship title in its history.

History

1922 Hockey Section was established in Djurgårdens IF. For the team were only 6 players, but that was not unusual at that time. In the following years, you could strengthen your workforce and in 1926 they won for the first time the Swedish championship. After many players had finished her career in 1934, the Hockey section was shut down until further notice. Four years later, a new team was formed.

After 1950, one of the most successful periods of the club began. Of the eight championship titles, which were won by 1970, it won 1958-1963 six in direct succession. During this time, 8-9 players from the team in the Swedish national team. Then it took but was until the next championship won nearly 20 years. The launch failed in the newly established Elitserien and then rose Djurgårdens IF in 1976. A year later, the team was top notch again and came up even to the final, but where they lost against MoDo AIK.

The following period was characterized by a constant up and down. In addition to league titles in 1983, 1989, 1990 and 1991, there were seasons in which you could prevent nearly participation in the Kvalserien, which decided to remain in the top division. The most successful was the year 1990 when the team was winning the European Cup.
