Dong people

The Dong (Chinese侗族, Pinyin Dòngzú; own name in official spelling: lagx Gaeml; would be written Kam ) are one of the 56 recognized by the People's Republic of China People's groups and include 2,879,974 people ( Census 2010). They are known for their covered " wind - and - rain bridges " and the ornate, part-songs. Her mother tongue is the same Dong.

History

The Dong immigrated around the year 1000 BC from the north of present-day Thailand in China. During the expansion of the Han Chinese were forced later to the south. Today, the Dong settle mainly in Guangxi and Guizhou.
