Geography

Geographical Location

The Samtgemeinde Dörpen is in the northwest of the district of Emsland in the Ems. To the north it borders the municipality of roadstead and to the city of Papenburg, on the east by the joint communities Nordhümmling and Soegel, to the south by the Municipality Lathen and to the west by the Netherlands.

The administrative headquarters of the velvet municipality is in Dörpen.

Samtgemeinderat

The Samtgemeinderat has 30 elected members. Then there is the directly elected mayor. After the local elections on 11 September 2011 It is composed of five parties.
