Ebersbach-Neugersdorf
Ebersbach- Neugersdorf is a small town in Saxony, which on 1 January 2011 from the merger of the neighboring towns Ebersbach / Sa. and Neugersdorf arose. A merger of the two communities, the 1306 first mentioned and each in 1925 and 1924 received a city charter was, in 1925, sought was not realized.
Located in the southern Upper Lusatia on the border with the Czech Republic in the Lusatian hill country town with 14,000 inhabitants to Görlitz, Zittau, white water and Lobau the fifth largest city in the district of Görlitz. The 20.42 -square-kilometer area contains two of the three sources spree that earned the city the nickname Spreequell city.

Geography
Geographical Location
The city lies at half the distance between Bautzen and Zittau along the German -Czech border in the Lusatian mountains. While the Ebersbacher downtown at 365 m above sea level. MSL, the highest points are on the Hutungsberg ( 474 m ) and the Poor Mountain ( 485 m).
Neighboring communities
Neighboring communities, the city Spremberg in the northwest, Kottmar in the north and northeast, Leutersdorf in the southeast and the city Seifhennersdorf in the south. On the Czech side the cities bordering Jiříkov (Georg forest ) in the west and Rumburk ( Rumburg ) in the southwest of Ebersbach- Neugersdorf.
History
Both eponymous places were first mentioned in May 1306. The situation on the border favored since the 17th century the influx of Bohemian exiles, the two varieties brought in a population growth. Linen weaving was early an important source of income and developed in the 19th century a thriving textile industry. The need for workers to secure further growth, so that Neugersdorf on 15 December 1924, Ebersbach on September 5, 1925 received a city charter.
On 4 November 2010 the Mayor of Neugersdorf ( Verena Hergenroder ) and the Mayor of Ebersbach / Sa signed. (Bernd Noack ) the agreement on the unification of the cities Ebersbach / Sa. and Neugersdorf the new Spreequell city Ebersbach- Neugersdorf January 1, 2011. On March 26, 2012, the City Council voted on the adoption of a newly created coat of arms, which contains the heraldic animals of the two districts today, the boar and the Crane. The coat of arms was created for a competition at which 70 proposals were submitted by 58 citizens.

Mayor of Ebersbach- Neugersdorf is Verena Hergenroder (independent).
In the mayoral election 27 March 2011 could obtain an absolute majority, none of the candidates, so that on April 10, held an election in which a simple majority was sufficient.
Of 11,778 eligible voters took their right to vote was 6394. Of these 3348 voters opted for the former mayor Neugersdorf Verena Hergenroder (independent) and 3004 voters for the former Ebersbacher Mayor Bernd Noack ( CDU). 42 votes were invalid. The Master of Business Administration David Andrick (The Left ) withdrew his candidacy after the election of 27 March 2011.

By Ebersbach- Neugersdorf runs in the relation Dresden - Bischofswerda - Zittau - Liberec ( - Tanvald ) used railway track Oberoderwitz - Wilthen the South Lausitz track. In Ebersbach district is a train station, and there is in the district Neugersdorf a breakpoint. At both stations Ebersbach- Neugersdorf keep both the traits of the regional express line RE2 (Dresden - Liberec ( - Tanvald ) ) as well as the regional rail line RB61 (Dresden - Zittau ). On the north side of the station Ebersbach are not scheduled moderately used rail line Ebersbach- Lobau branches and on the south, the direction breakpoint Neugersdorf, the railway line Bakov nad Jizerou - Ebersbach after Rumburk in the Czech Republic.
