Eberstedt

Eberstedt is a municipality in the northeast of the county of Weimar in Thuringia and is part of fulfilling community Bad Sulza.

Geography

The municipality is located in northeastern Thuringian Basin, about 10 km northeast of the county town Apolda. From the border to Saxony- Anhalt, where the fulfilling community Bad Sulza is, Eberstedt is 5km away in a northeasterly direction. The Ilm runs just south of Eberstedt, on the opposite side of the river from the neighboring community Niedertrebra. The nearest international transport connection, the Federal Road 87 is; it is accessible via Apolda.

History

The first written mention of the village dates from the year 876

In the 1990s, a " floating cottage village " was on the edge next to the oil mill built on a pond, where walkers, cyclists and motorized tourists can spend a weekend or a holiday.

Regular events

The fair is held annually on the Sunday after the 13th of July and will take place today on a Tanzloge, which is a rarity in the region. The Lodge - formerly exclusively a timber - in 1954 put in order and extended by the present-day stage.
