Hohenfelden

Hohenfelden is a municipality in the south of the circle of Weimar and part of managing the Crane box.

Geography

The 1299 first mentioned place is located east of highly visible, 513 m high Riechheimer mountain at an altitude of about 340 m above sea level. The immediate area is dominated by agriculture, while there is extensive forest areas in the conservation area Middle Ilm Valley a few kilometers away.

History

The first mention of Hohenfelden took place in 1299 in a deed of the Procurator of St. Peter's monastery in Erfurt, Berthold de Honved. 1332 a village called Nydern Hovelden was called (as opposed to superiors Hovelden ). Along the small Bach Krummbach, which today feeds the reservoir Hohenfelden, once was the border between Erfurt and Kurmainzer area on the one hand and the rule Upper Kranichfeld other. The former part came in 1815 in Sachsen -Weimar- Eisenach, the second part of 1663 Saxe-Gotha -Altenburg. The Grenzbach was also called court Bach; The boundary line which was only lifted on August 1, 1913, is still recognized by a landmark. In the division of the town in 1815, the northern part ( about four-fifths ) came to Sachsen -Weimar -Eisenach, the southern of Saxe-Meiningen. The local volunteer fire brigade was founded in the year 1873. Located on the eastern edge of the village, the school was 1894/95 newly built, which was in 1957/58 increased by a further classroom. 1914 was the site of a water pipe. Wealthy families from Erfurt began in 1924/25 with the construction of holiday homes on the Katzenberg in the north of the local situation. Culture and sights

  • On the eastern edge of the village is the Thuringian open air museum Hohenfelden. In the 30 museum buildings from the 17th to the 20th century is shown as built earlier in Central Thuringian villages, lived and worked. Among the exhibited buildings include farmhouses, workshops, bee houses, a Einklassenschule, a village brewery and the museum restaurant retreat to the old parish. The museum was founded in 1976 in nominal terms, the realization began then in 1979, when the parsonage of the village for the museum was purchased. From 1980 started to implement mainly vulnerable rural buildings with historical value after Hohenfelden. At the same time the local situation was declared a National Monument. For children and youth series Schloss Einstein some scenes for their 15th season were shot at the Open Air Museum.
  • Old school: The basement of the building dates from 1787 after a fire in the village, the first floor was rebuilt in 1811. . The house was used until 1894 as a school. It now houses a permanent exhibition of a historic classroom.
  • The 38 -acre reservoir Hohenfelden was about 1.5 km east of the municipality from 1966 to 1975 who built, whose main function today is the recreation for the nearby cities of Erfurt and Weimar. In the amusement park numerous outdoor events took place in the summer.   • Village church of St. Burkard: A parish church in Hohenfelden is first mentioned in 1439. After the fire of 1810 it is 1813 newly consecrated.
