Niederzimmern

Niederzimmern is a municipality in the western part of the Weimar area and part of the joint management Gram Metal.

Geography

Lower rooms is located at the foot of the Great Südwestabdachung Etter Mountain in the Thuringian Basin. The county road 45 connects the village with Vieselbach. The railway line Weimar to Erfurt through the district.

History

In the year 876 Niederzimmern was mentioned for the first time in the " tithe disputes " between the archbishops of Mainz and Fulda at the Diet of Ingelheim documented. It was later called " rooms infra".

As a reward for faithful military service of the place in 1346 was given by the Earl of Orlamünde the Erfurters. Niederzimmern formed with his district the eastern boundary of the city of Erfurt. Until 1852 Niederzimmern had two churches, St. Boniface Church in Oberndorf and the Wigbertikirche in the lower village. The former was demolished in 1854.
