Edna Staebler

Edna Staebler ( born January 15, 1906 in Berlin, Ontario, † September 12, 2006 in Waterloo, Ontario) was a Canadian author who was known primarily through their regional cookbooks.

Staebler grew up on her birthplace. She received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto and a teaching license of the Ontario College of Education. She married in 1933 and divorced in 1962. She wrote numerous articles for journals and magazines such as Maclean's, Chatelaine, Saturday Night, Reader 's Digest, Star Weekly.

Her series of cookbooks Food That Really Schmecks, based on the local cuisine, they made ​​known.

In 1991 she received the Award for Creative Non-fiction, which is awarded annually by the Wilfrid Laurier University. In 1996 she received the Order of Canada.

Staebler died of a stroke at the age of 100 years.
