The EHC Neuwied The bear is an ice hockey club, which is located in the Rhineland-Palatinate city of Neuwied. His previous clubs were the "old" EHC Neuwied, the SC central Rhine - Neuwied Neuwied and the VFE. History

The "old" EHC Neuwied ( 1980-2000 )

In the 1993/94 season, the club initially played in the big leagues before he was a year later due to a reform in the German Ice Hockey and the associated formation of the German Ice Hockey League, was allowed to compete in the new sub-prime 1st League North.

The 1995/96 season ended the team to third place in the 1st League North, but had to in the play-off compared with the EC Bad Tolz from the force as more first league South defeated. For the 1996/97 season the team has been strengthened in many positions, it earned 21 wins in the first preliminary round of 26 matches. In the Master round the Bears won 15 of 18 games and thus the championship title of the 1st League North. The subsequent play-offs in comparison with the clubs from the official name "Hacker -Pschorr League" bearing 1 League South EHC Neuwied also decided for himself and was thus master of the first league. For the 1998/99 season, the first league was renamed to Bundesliga, the EHC was reinforced during the DEL with some experienced players. SC middle Rhine - Neuwied ( 2000-2006 )

Two weeks after the EHC had requested the opening of the insolvency proceedings, the SC Middle Rhine (short SCM) was founded, whose official club name was extended by the addition of Neuwied in summer 2001. The SCM took over the operation of gambling the 2nd team of the EHC Neuwied and entered into his first season in the Regionalliga Rheinland-Pfalz/Hessen to. VFE Neuwied (2006/ 07)

The resignation of the board and the bankruptcy petition did not take any team for the SCM part in the 2006/07 season in the game mode. The "new" EHC Neuwied (since 2007)

On 1 April 2007, the newly established EHC Neuwied took over as planned, the teams of the VFE, who has worked on in his original role as patrons.

Unique curiosity in the Neuwied Hockey history is the fact that the 2nd team for two seasons played Hockey higher grade than the seniors team. This was because the seniors team EHC would normally have continued the schedule of the VFE Neuwied in the Regionalliga Hesse. The league season 2012/2013 was a sobering contrast to the EHC. At no time the team was competitive and the entire season was found in the basement table again. Despite a late squad compiling the 2013/2014 season was again successful for the Bears. During the regular season, the team coached by Arno Lörsch established in the top tier of Regional West, was there champion and qualified for the Oberliga West Cup. In the 2012/13 season, the former youth team merged with the second team, so no team EHC Neuwied is launched in this youth.

In league squads of the SC central Rhine - Neuwied played with Stephan Petry, Willi Hamann, Daniel Hellmann and Dennis Hipke already promising talents, which has spawned "bear " the young field of. In the 1990/91 season the Czech Antonin Vesecky was coach of EHC before came to the Bears for the following season as player-coach Bernd Arnold. Rivalries and friendships
