Eise Eisinga

Ice Jelteszn Eisinga (* February 21, 1744 in Franeker ();? † August 27, 1828 ) was a Dutch amateur astronomer and author of works on other subjects of astronomy.

Biography

Eisinga is the builder of the planetarium named after him. It is the oldest functioning model of the solar system.

Eisinga built it from 1774 to 1781 in Franeker. In the Netherlands in 1774 was a stampede broke out, it would come through a held this year Top ranking of the planet to cosmic collisions. Eisinga wanted to dispel these concerns.

1859 gave the Dutch state of the city of Franeker Planetarium.

Honors

  • The road on which was the former home of Eisinga later received the name ice Eisingastraat.
  • 1994 is the 250th birthday of Eisinga, gave the Dutch Post a stamp worth 80 cents out.
  • Ice Eisinga is listed under No. 25 in Canon van Nederland ( German: educational canon of the Netherlands ), one consisting of fifty strands of information summary of the history of the Netherlands for the school.
