Energy research Centre of the Netherlands
The Energy Research Centre of the Netherlands (ECN ) is the Netherlands' largest research center for renewable energies. With approximately 600 employees (January 2011) it has its seat in the North Holland Petten.
The ECN works in eight research areas:
- Policy studies
- Energy efficiency in industry
- Solar energy
- Wind energy
- Renewable energy in the building sector ( DEGO )
- Biomass
- Clean fossil fuels
300 employees in the Nuclear Research and consultancy Group ( NRG ), of a joint venture between ECN and KEMA. Together with the Joint Research Centre (Dutch: Centrum voor Onderzoek Gemeenschappelijk ( GCO ) ) of the European Commission and Mallinkrodt ( a subsidiary of Tyco Healthcare), they have their offices in the dunes of Petten.
